After copious teasers, a leak, and much speculation, Jaguar has officially unveiled its F-Type Sports car at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
Three variants of the F-Type are going to be available when the car hits the market, the F-Type, F-Type S and F-Type V8 S. The two lesser models will be powered by the same supercharged V6, that makes 340 hp in the standard car, and 380 hp in the up rated S model. The F-Type V8 S gets a 5.0-liter eight-cylinder engine that cranks out 495 hp, making the 0-60 mph sprint possible in 4.2 seconds. All three engines feature stop/start technology to help fuel efficiency.
All engines will be connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission with closely-spaced, sporting ratios for performance driving.
Other sports car goodies include a sport exhaust system that can be switched on to improve the exhaust note, and an automatic spoiler that raises on the back of the car at speed.
Pricing was announced for the UK, but when the car hits the States around May 2013, expect it to start around $69,000, though for a top-model V-8 you’ll paying more than $100,000.
“Jaguar is a founder member of the sports car segment with a rich sporting bloodline stretching over 75 years, and in the F-TYPE we’ve reignited that flame. The F-TYPE isn’t designed to be like anyone else’s sports car. It’s a Jaguar sports car – ultra-precise, powerful, sensual and, most of all, it feels alive,” said Adrian Hallmark, global brand director at Jag.
