The Audi RS5 is getting a new drop-top variant which will be for sale here in the U.S., and the convertible was just revealed at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

The RS5 uses a 4.2-liter V8 to net a 0-62 mph sprint in just 4.9 seconds, thanks to its 450 hp and FSI direct injection. Top speed is electronically limited in the car to 155 mph, but it can be raised at a customers request to 173 mph. Mated to a seven-speed S tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive system, the combined fuel economy rating for the car is 21 mpg.
For looks, the Cabriolet keeps the same appointments of the coupe, using a matte aluminum frame wrapped around the front lip and grille. Xenon headlights sit atop LED light strips on the front end of the car, while larger wheel arches give it a wider stance. Matte anodized aluminum strips also adorn the windshield frame, window channels and the soft top box.
Seats come upholstered in a combination of leather and Alcantara, or in optional black or lunar silver Fine Nappa leather. RS5 badging can be found throughout the cabin, next to high-gloss black trim and carbon inlays. The drop-top can be lowered in just 15 seconds, even when driving at speeds of up to 31 mph, and it only eats up an extra 2.12 cubic feet of trunk space.
The RS5 features Audi drive control, which can be used to vary the characteristics of the steering feel, throttle valves, and even the exhaust system sound flaps, to change the engine sound of the car. Adaptive cruise control, differential and sport suspension can also be adjusted using the Audi drive control feature.
The RS5 Cabriolet will come to America, Audi has confirmed, and will likely be on sale by early 2013.
