You have to give credit where credit is due: when McLaren managing director Anthony Sheriff visited the 2008 Paris Auto Show , he knew that McLaren staff had many ideas but they were all on paper.
Fast forward to today and McLaren has already released two production models, the MP4-12C and its open-top Spyder version, and will have delivered 1,500 cars by the end of 2012.
However, its main attraction at this year’s Paris Motor Show wasn't the MP4-12C but a concept of its upcoming P1 hypercar. The Woking-based carmaker’s executive chairman Ron Dennis and Anthony Sheriff were the ones who unveiled the concept in the flesh.
Dennis used his [in]famous Ron-speak to introduce the concept to the audience, leaving Sheriff to fill in the details, though he did reveal what the P1 name stands for. Meanwhile, chief designer Frank Stephenson was also at hand to explain the rationale behind the P1’s creation.
You can watch both videos, and learn more about the P1 that will be revealed in production form at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, right after the jump.
