If Ferrari can build a wagon, then surely Porsche can get away with it. And why not, the German sports car brand has already expanded into SUVs and sedans.

After all, if Porsche can make an SUV out-perform most sports cars, then surely they can build a badass wagon. But a plug-in hybrid wagon?
That’s what the Panamera Sport Turismo concept is, with a 333-hp V6 engine mated to a 95-hp electric motor – twice the output of the one found in the current Panamera and Cayenne hybrid models. Total system output is rated at 416-hp, while the plug-in feature allows for an electric range of over 30 km (18.6 miles) at speeds of up to 130 km/h (80 mph). Porsche claims a fuel economy rating of 3.5 l/100 km or 67 MPG. Of note, the driver can choose pure electric mode or hybrid mode using a button on the steering wheel.
At the same time, Porsche claims a 0-60 time of less than 6.0 seconds.
Porsche says the car is a look at the future of how performance and efficiency can be combined, though if there’s any surprise with this wagon it’s that it’s actually smaller than the current Panamera.
Unveiled today at the Paris Motor Show, see AutoGuide’s complete show coverage here.
